Veshige by Nature Maldives is an invitation to embrace our innate love for nature. We craft experiences that draw you closer to nature. We offer a candid taste of the Maldivian islander life, focusing on different aspects of traditional and cultural elements. This is your opportunity to soak up a bit of culture and history while immersing yourself into island life.

LOCATION

Villingili Island, Male’ offers a genuinely natural and historical Maldivian sanctuary, connected to the capital island Male’ by a quick and frequent 10 - minute ferry ride departing every 10 minutes.

Villingili island as the only natural local island within close proximity to the capital city and Velana International Airport, features beautiful natural beaches, lush greenery and remnants of a fascinating historical significance, having served both as a resort before it blossomed into the vibrant inhabited island community it is today.

The island maintains a peaceful, motor-vehicle free atmosphere. Locals from various Maldivian atolls creates an organic community, sharing their cuisines, crafts and culture. It is common to see families enjoying the safety and tranquility, with multiple generations gathering and children playing freely in the blue and green spaces in and around the island.

Veshige features some of the elements traditionally found in Maldivian homes, such as a spacious open air veranda with a traditional porch (Ashi), Outdoor kitchen with grill and outdoor shower. One of the rooms on the ground floor has a traditional bathing well (Valhu).

Other available amenities include :

- An assorted selection of teas, coffee and traditional finger foods.

- Bicycles to explore the island.

- Towels to dry yourself after a swim.

- Faijehi Endhu - Traditional sun bed ideal for an afternoon siesta.

DINING

Embark on a culinary adventure by biking to the local market with a guide to select fresh herbs, spices, and the freshest catch ofthe day. Then learn to grill you seafood - whether a vibrant reef fish or tender octopus - over an open flame, savoring the authentic flavors and traditions of Maldivian coastal cooking in a homely setting.

Your experiences on this island journey is assisted by experienced local guides with in-depth knowledge and professional background. Engage in a one on one conversation to satisfy your curiosity about maldivians and their way of life.

Our Nature journaling creative experiences are led by local artists who have a deep connection to nature and can share their insights into how they draw inspiration from the surrounding natural environment.

KIDS

Our MoodhuFilaa - Nature Camp programs are based on the belief that nature is the ideal learning space for a child. All the activities are set in the sensory-rich outdoors and based on ‘unstructured play’ where a sense of wonder and awe leads to inspiration and curiosity.

We conduct one day camps as well as extended (2-3 days) camps, where they can mingle with local kids and get a real taste of the islander life. The programs are run by professional educators as experienced caregivers from the local community.

Each product featured in our shop has a story to tell, made in small batches by islanders who create either using traditional techniques or are inspired by age old ideas and ways of using natural materials to create products with a soul.

You can actively participate in making your own personalized souvenir instead of simply passively grabbing a product off the shelf.
