* At Nature Maldives, our programs are open to all ages. We believe that learning is richer when generations come together. That’s why we encourage people of different ages to share, learn, and create side by side - whether it’s children learning from elders, or older participants gaining fresh perspectives from the young. Our activities promote intergenerational connection, mentorship, and shared discovery.

Description

We are opening a space at Veshige Nature House to move beyond just listening and begin learning the heartbeat of our islands. Guided by our host's personal journey of research and practice, these lessons are designed to ground you in the fundamental "hama" or rhythms and history that define traditional Boduberu. By focusing on foundational techniques through structured, weekly practice, we aim to preserve the skill and spirit of traditional Boduberu, ensuring its original essence remains a living part of our modern lives.
Beyond the music, the rhythmic discipline in nature serves as a powerful reset for the mind and a catalyst for brain development through coordinated play. Whether you are picking up a musical instrument for the first time or seeking to refine your rhythm, this program invites you to practice, play, and carry the rhythms of the islands as part of your personal journey.
By the end of the program, participants will learn by:
Practicing the 3 basic Boduberu "Hama" or rhythms
Playing together in sync
Practicing a traditional Boduberu song and performing as a group
