* At Nature Maldives, our programs are open to all ages. We believe that learning is richer when generations come together. That’s why we encourage people of different ages to share, learn, and create side by side - whether it’s children learning from elders, or older participants gaining fresh perspectives from the young. Our activities promote intergenerational connection, mentorship, and shared discovery.

Fan Viyun is an immersive introduction to Maldivian palm weaving, led by a local craftswoman. Begin with a guided walk around Villingili Island to explore the coconut palm’s role in daily island life and learn how to identify and select the best palm leaves for weaving.

Returning to Veshige Nature House, participants will be introduced to basic weaving techniques through simple creations such as a watch, fish and a wind spinner - items that hold cultural and playful significance in Maldivian tradition. This session not only builds practical skills but also encourages a deeper appreciation for the knowledge embedded in everyday island life.
