Nakaiy and the Changing Winds
An open Conversation
We’re hosting a small gathering at Veshige Nature House, over a dinner prepared by the community, to explore how Nakaiy shaped the way our ancestors lived in tune with nature and how we might reconnect with these cycles in our daily lives today.

* At Nature Maldives, our programs are open to all ages. We believe that learning is richer when generations come together. That’s why we encourage people of different ages to share, learn, and create side by side - whether it’s children learning from elders, or older participants gaining fresh perspectives from the young. Our activities promote intergenerational connection, mentorship, and shared discovery.
Description
We are interested in bringing together people with interesting data regarding the concept and everyday people who are interested in the topic, to create a space where we can foster curiosity regarding Nakaiy.
Our main objective is to bring together diverse perspectives and understand how we can start a conversation around raising awareness and interest about the Nakaiy system by compiling a concise data set that can act as an open source spring board for academics, creatives and other interested parties.
Some of the lines of questioning we have in mind are regarding the history and cultural context (its possible origins and use cases in the past), and the timing and onset of each Nakaiy for the different geographical locations in Maldives, its differences and how it moves and shifts.
How can we use and project this data onto our everyday lives today, and make it part of our perception in the movement of natural cycles?
Also we want to explore the deeper connection between Nature and Nakaiy, and the question of whether it’s important to be in tune with it in this day and age?
We would like to invite you to this initiative with the intent to have an engaging discussion together with interested individuals who sign up for the activity.
