* At Nature Maldives, our programs are open to all ages. We believe that learning is richer when generations come together. That’s why we encourage people of different ages to share, learn, and create side by side - whether it’s children learning from elders, or older participants gaining fresh perspectives from the young. Our activities promote intergenerational connection, mentorship, and shared discovery.

Description

Build upon your foundational skills with new techniques. This intensive session focuses on crafting a Saranfee (a folding beach chair with a fabric backrest). Along with our Host Carpenter Alibe, participants will learn about following build templates, precision sawing, smooth planing, and proper sanding - the set of skills that transform rough timber into refined furniture. At the end, the host will help you understand different wood coating options that would optimize protection and looks of the wood, from traditional coatings such as oil finishes, lime paste solution finishes to modern varnish finish.
